Additional Information

Taking inspiration from the client’s extensive travels throughout Europe, we landed upon using a mixture of traditional Inset Cabinetry and combined it with Frameless. Initially, Frameless bases were used to maximize the amount of storage, but in the end, I very much liked the furniture quality appearance we got from the individuality of pieces.

I added the Torus Assemblies on the two pull outs each side of the range, as well as on the island, each side of the wainscot panel and open bookshelf on the end of the peninsula. To add a little ‘pop’ to the refrigerator and pantry wall, I added the Torus Assemblies on either side. This adds some nice framing as well as allowing the beautiful dentil moulding show off a bit more.
Hutch base was added to the bookcase, main sink, pull outs, pantry and three sides of island to stimulate the visual weight you expect to find in furniture.

Working with two homeowners who have a gourmet flare for fine cooking, there was a laundry list of needs and expectations to incorporate. I had to squeeze optimum function in storage without having to give up any of the long list of appliances my client needed to have, in their newly renovated space. The gas range and hood are obviously central to the room, so I tried to minimize other key necessities, such as the warming drawer (hidden behind a drawer panel) and the induction cook top on the island (for preparing specialty sauces while guests look on).

The refrigerator was decidedly left a combination of stainless and glass for added visual relief as well as making one sense they were a true cooks’ kitchen.
Whimsical pendant lights and surface hardware were purchases from a trip to France, for a daily reminder of another place they love so much (besides their new kitchen).
